Dr Carmel Lindkvist

Areas of Interest:

Carmel Lindkvist’s earlier research focused on the introduction of technology into facilities management (FM). The specific technology was Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and she explored its introduction into the FM discipline within service innovation theory. Critical Discourse Analysis perspective was used to investigate the issues that arose from this research.

She is currently working on the project Infrastructure through Life – Technology Use in Global Projects.

In her current role, she is interested in conducting research on design in large project programmes and to develop the research capacity of the ICRC and of the Design Innovation Research Centre. Specifically, research which involves the study of digital tools in large engineering/construction projects with the aim of proposing models and indicators for future best practice. This cutting edge research focuses on large infrastructure and construction projects and the use of technology through the life a project. Specific areas include, technologies used for Facilities Management and hand-over of Building Information Modelling (BIM) from the stages of design and construction to Facilities Management. Carmel is currently examining institutional theories for these research areas.
