Dr Richard Davies
Richard studied Construction Management (UMIST, 1992) for his first degree and spent a short period working for a national contractor. He returned to UMIST to do a PhD on perceptions of intrinsic job satisfaction among construction trades (1997) while working as a Teaching Assistant and later as a freelance consultant in occupational psychology.
Leaving Manchester and moving to London he worked for two national mobile telecommunications providers in a number of jobs including process design, business analysis and project management in construction, network rollout and information technology. During this time he studied part-time for a degree in Psychology (Open, 2000) and an Occupational Psychology MSc (Birkbeck, 2004).
Richard joined the ICRC as a Research Fellow in 2006 and is conducting research on the discourse of innovation in construction. His other research interests include the study of boundaries in organisations and the social aspects of technology and technological change. He studies traditional martial arts and is a lapsed rock climber and mountaineer.
