International Survey of Corporate Real Estate Practices: Longitudinal Study, 1993-2002

Start Date: Oct 2002
End Date: Apr 2003

Project Status: Complete

Drawing on data gathered from the Corporate Real Estate Management Research Unit (CREMRU) survey of international corporate real estate (CRE) practices, this project involves the in-depth statistical analysis of trends over ten years. The survey was initiated in 1993, and has been supported by Johnson Controls Incorporated (JCI) since 1997.

The CREMRU-JCI survey can be found at www.cremru.rdg.ac.uk

The annual survey gathers data from chief real estate officers (CREOs) and CRE service providers.
The questions include details of the CRE organization and a range of opinions regarding the role and future direction of CRE.

The most recent review of survey findings was published in Facilities, and can be found at www.emeraldinsight.com/0263-2772.htm then click Vol. 20 Number 11/12

The relationship between CRE decision-making and property performance is little understood. The same applies to the CREO's role in an organization. Through the analysis of the CREMRU-JCI survey data, this research will explore the relationship between senior management decision-making and the property cycle. As well as providing information to support CRE decision-making, and consequently wealth-creation, the survey will continue playing an educational role in the MSc in CRE & FM offered by the University of Reading.
More information about the course can be found at www.creem.rdg.ac.uk.
